GOOGLE ANNOUNCES WORK FROM HOME UNTIL JULY 2021

Earlier this year, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, social media platform Twitter announced that it was looking into permanent work-from-home arrangements for its employees, and other tech giants Facebook and Google followed in similar footsteps, allowing their own to work remotely until the end of the year.

However, according to a new email to employees from Google‘s CEO Sundar Pichai, the company is now extending the work-from-home period until July 2021.

The news comes after the tech giant stated various plans to reopen campuses for those who need to work at the office, causing confusion among employees from different school districts as to when they were meant to return. Pichai hopes that a unified date will give more clarity moving forward: “To give employees the ability to plan ahead, we are extending our global voluntary work from home option through June 30, 2021 for roles that don’t need to be in the office,” a Google spokesperson told The Verge.
