Givenchy has announced a new creative director – Matthew Williams – a founder and lead designer of 1017 Alyx 9SM brand. The designer will present his very first collection in Paris, October 2020.

“I am grateful to the LVMH group for trusting me with the opportunity to fulfil my lifelong dream,” said Williams of his new role as Givenchy’s seventh couturier.

Williams also opened up about the “surreal” feeling he’s having as he’s been dreaming about this role and working hard for it for 15 years, every single day.

Williams have a very loyal and trustworthy following too. Many have supported his journey, from the times when he art directed for Lady Gaga and Kanye West, as well as collaborated with Virgil Abloh on #BEEN #TRILL. Williams is not being compared to Virgil Abloh who is the first designer to take a step from a streetwear background to work for a luxury brand, Louis Vuitton in 2018.

CEO and president of Givenchy, Renaud de Lesquen, announced that brand’s ability to reach new heights now goes to Williams joining the team.
