A verdict has finally been reached regarding Vernon Unsworth’s defamation case against Elon Musk. The case started from a tweet aimed against Unsworth for criticizing Musk‘s mini-rescue submarine developed for saving a trapped youth soccer team.

Unsworth called Musk’s efforts a “PR stunt” and to “stick his submarine where it hurts,” to which Musk dismissed by calling Unsworth a “pedo guy,” and that he was nowhere to be seen while Musk was helping the rescue team. The amount Unsworth was suing for in damages was estimated to be around $190 million USD as the comment left him “vulnerable” and feeling “isolated” while home in the United Kingdom.

After a three-day trial that took place in a Los Angeles federal court, it was established that Musk would not be liable for defamation and that the “pedo guy” tweet was not intended as a statement of fact.
