TAKE A LOOK INSIDE: MUJI HOTEL GINZA

Based in Tokyo. After opening its hotel in Shenzhen at the start of this year, MUJI opened the doors to another branch in April. The hotel is located in the Ginza region of Tokyo, seeing MUJI return to its Japanese roots. The hotel itself has been described by MUJI as both “anti-gorgeous” and “anti-cheap,” instead focusing on the brand’s signature minimalist aesthetic and high-quality approach. The space is set to feature 79 rooms, set over the sixth to tenth floors of the new MUJI global flagship store. There are nine different type of room (named Type A through to Type I), with options varying from twin or bunk beds to large open-plan spaces with reading nooks and a wooden bathtub. The hotel also champions sustainability, and uses recycled materials throughout its design. MUJI products feature in all of the rooms, while guests also have the ability to have items sent from the store to their room. As well as the MUJI hotel, the new flagship will also feature a diner, a special food store selling fruit and vegetables from near Tokyo and the Atelier MUJI Ginza, which is described as a “multi-purpose facility of design and culture” and will include two galleries, a salon, a library and a lounge space.
